The 43rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Pope AFB, N.C., recently took part in its annual training exercises by digging defensive positions, driving with night vision goggles, and simulating chemical warfare. Approximately 28 students and nine instructors spent three days at Camp Mackall on the Ft. Bragg Military Reservation simulating the stand up of a mobile air staging facility and evacuation of patients. Working with Army counterparts, airmen trained for a wide variety of situations, including operation with civilian agencies.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
