The Ramstein View Is Changing: Air Force officials say the creation of the service’s European super base at Ramstein AB, Germany, is proceeding, with 10 of 32 projects still to complete. The first 22, which US Air Forces in Europe started in 2003, are done, enabling the base to pick up as the service’s main European airlift hub following the closure of Rhein Main Air Base. The first projects included a new runway, hazardous cargo pad, expanding aircraft parking ramps, freight terminal, and dormitories. Alongside Ramstein’s building boom is construction of the new Kaiserlautern Military Community Center and new military family housing.
