The US Air Force is finally and completely out of Uzbekistan. A Pentagon spokesman said a USAF C-17 flew out the last 90 personnel at the Karshi-Khanabad—or as American troops knew it, K2—Air Base following a brief ceremony this week. This was the residual force left behind to turn over the key. USAF began moving its personnel and equipment shortly after the Uzbeks told us to pack up and go. (DR 09/08/05)
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
