Talks in Hawaii regarding the reorganization of US forces in Japan are nearing an end, with a final report expected by the end of the month, reports the Daily Yomiuri. The Japanese newspaper notes that the “two sides have almost agreed” that US pilot training will move from Kadena AB, Japan, on the island of Okinawa and Misawa AB, Japan, to several Japan Air Self-Defense Force facilities.
The U.K. and the U.S. will continue to enjoy access to the ports, airfield, and workshops at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean for at least another century, under a deal inked between the U.K. and Mauritius May 22.
