According to Stars and Stripes, the Air Force Weather Agency has ended operation of a high-frequency radio system to collect weather data. The agency, which now considers the collection method too costly, has shuttered the last Global Weather Intercept Program operated by the 374th Communications Squadron, Yokota AB, Japan.
Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall, on the verge of leaving the Pentagon, said he would accelerate production of the B-21 bomber if there was money to do so. But even so, it couldn’t happen right away, he said in an interview with Air & Space Forces Magazine.
