The Pentagon said earlier this year that it would try to recruit more Hispanics, who are under-represented, based on their overall numbers in the country. Sounds like a fair plan, right? Not to a group of antiwar activists in Los Angeles. The group—Latinos for Peace—announced on Monday the start of a national campaign to keep military recruiters out of high schools. The group’s goal: “to keep our children from being cannon fodder.”
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
