Winning the 2007 Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence within the Air Force is Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. The home of the 366th Fighter Wing Gunfighters is one of five DOD installations to receive the award, which evaluates outstanding and innovative approaches toward facility maintenance and operations. A base release notes that the 366th rolled out several initiatives for a six-person inspection team, including its $60 million Singapore Air Force facility beddown plan and installation of a $1.3 million aircraft hangar high-expansion foam system to increase aircraft protection.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
