A Randolph AFB, Tex., T-38 Talon trainer crashed Feb. 22 at around 12:45 p.m. about 12 miles south of Hondo, Tex. The pilot of the 12th Flying Training Wing aircraft ejected safely. The Air Force has launched an accident investigation. According to KENS 5 TV, the trainer crashed in the “middle of a large private ranch.”

The Air Force is changing its policy for pregnant aircrew, generally reverting to rules set in 2019 that barred female aviators from flying during the first trimester—or from flying in aircraft with ejection seats at all—due to potential risks to the pilot and her unborn fetus.
