The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center has moved from Langley AFB, Va., to Tyndall AFB, Fla., beginning operations March 1 at its new home, America’s Air Operations Center. The Air Force realigned the AFRCC last spring under 1st Air Force, which has its headquarters at Tyndall and which is the Air Force component for NORAD and US Northern Command. The AAOC is due to become fully operational in June.
When Airmen eject, the mission is clear: America leaves no warrior behind. Airmen are trained to survive, evade, resist, and escape the enemy, and everyone from ground crew to rescue personnel and commanders are committed to doing everything necessary—and possible—to bring downed Airmen home.
