NATO’s military leadership has agreed to closer cooperation between its International Security Assistance Force peacekeepers and the US-led coalition that is engaged in combat operations. That’s the word from NATO’s Military Committee chairman, Canadian Gen. Ray Henault. Yet to be done: Political leaders must finalize the agreement. U.S. aircraft, drones, and attack helicopters have launched significant airstrikes in recent days against Islamic State militants in Syria as part of the renewed air campaign against remnants of the group, U.S. officials said.
