The Air Force has awarded a Bronze Star Medal to Capt. Kevin Fischer, a physician assistant with Air Force Special Operations Command’s 1st Special Operations Support Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla., for his actions during a 10-month deployment to Iraq. TSgt. Kelley Ogden reports that Fischer provided emergency medical care during several mass and multi-casualty situations. He also led a joint forces team training Iraqi Army physicians, nurses, and medics.
The Pentagon agency charged with building and operating U.S. spy satellites recently declassified some details about a Cold War-era surveillance program called Jumpseat—a revelation it says sheds light on the importance of satellite imaging technology and how it has advanced in the decades since.
