The Air Force has decided to extend the deadline for officers to apply for Voluntary Separation Pay to May 31, just a couple of weeks after making the cutoff March 31. The service still plans to hold a Reduction in Force board in June, targeting officers in overage career fields in 1995, 1996, 2000, and 2001.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
