Airmen in US Air Forces in Europe will not have to repay housing allowance money they received through a misinterpretation of a new law, reports Stars and Stripes. Nearly 9,000 airmen got too much money from Oct. 1, 2005 to July 31, 2006. The total amount is around $4 million.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
