The Civil Air Patrol’s Board of Governors ousted Maj. Gen. Antonio J. Pineda as national commander in a teleconference vote Oct. 2, according to an Oct. 3 CAP release. The board had earlier suspended Pineda after it received a report from the CAP inspector general regarding claims that another CAP member had taken professional development course tests for Pineda in 2002 and 2003. The vice commander, CAP Brig. Gen. Amy Coulter, who has served as acting commander since the suspension took effect in August, will serve as interim commander until the August 2008 board meeting. At that time, she can run for the position herself.
