Airlift Window Goes Up at Ramstein: The historic stained glass window from the chapel at the now-shuttered Rhein-Main AB, Germany, now hangs in the passenger terminal at the new main European airlift hub—Ramstein AB, Germany. The eight-foot window commemorates US servicemembers who died during the 1948-49 Berlin Airlift. The Air Force plans to return Rhein-Main to the German government this December. (DR 09/30/05)
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
