The Air Force plans to unveil a new mission statement within the next two weeks. The new statement is still under wraps, but we are told it includes a phrase being used lately by new Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne: “deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States in air, space, and cyberspace.” Sources tell us that the new mission statement is two-pronged: emphasizing unique USAF capabilities and a commitment to joint action.
Dozens of fighter jets gathered at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida last week to kick off one of the service’s biggest air combat exercises despite the government shutdown. More than 50 aircraft and 500 personnel are participating in Checkered Flag 26-1.
